How to lose 10 lbs in two days is the slogan many advertisements contain:
Lose 10 pounds in 2 days’ diet! Lose weight in 2 days! Quick weight loss in 2 days!
Some companies are so eager to attract clients that they promise to instruct the clients how to lose 20 pounds fast in 2 days! Doesn’t it run counter to the logic? If you still have some doubts read the article up to the end and learn the answers to these questions based on mathematical calculations, not empty dreams!
They say you could lose ten pounds in two days… Do you believe it? Do you know the real answer to the question of how much weight you can lose in 2 days? If you are a sensible and reasonable person you should understand that losing 10 pounds in 2 days is impossible.
First of all, let’s determine the basics. Are these people or companies who offer you to lose weight in two days speaking about weight loss and fat loss? What is their strategy to teach you how to lose weight in 2 days? If they promise you will lose 10 pounds in two days, does it mean you will not gain this weight again? So, there are a lot of questions that need careful consideration.
Many people believe that in case they are unable to wear their favorite jeans or dress they could use the method of losing weight fast and enjoy the party in several days. Some people tend to think that if they lose 10 pounds in two days this quick result will motivate them to continue the same way. And for some other people, their appearance is so important that they need to undertake all the efforts possible in order to get the immediate result.
But I am going to share with you some essential principles our organism follows. My story is a good example of being caught in the trap of ridiculous ideas on how to lose 10 pounds in two days.
Believe it or not, I understand the desperation to “get the weight off”. Almost two years ago I gained 20 pounds in less than two months when I gave birth to my second baby. You know, I’m a fitness trainer, so, most clients I work with are aimed at becoming healthy and losing weight. 20 extra pounds didn’t make me overweight, but everybody whose life is connected with sports could imagine my distress!
I was desperate in my attempts of losing weight fast. Keto, juice fasting, colon cleanses, liver detoxes…Unfortunately, nothing worked… at least, in the way I expected. And I wanted to lose 20 pounds during a week… You know, nothing helped because I had crucially messed up my metabolism through dieting and extreme exercise… And my body refused from new ‘tortures’.
What does the number on the scale tell you about “weight loss”? Not much. Even if you lose weight in two days, your scales will show the weight difference but you will have no idea if you lost water, fat, or even muscles! That’s the point.
Is it possible to lose 10 pounds in 2 days? Sounds doubtful. In fact, if you don’t eat or drink anything and take the right dose of diuretics, you can probably lose 10 pounds in less than 24 hours. But be wise and careful! Starvation and lack of water could pose a deadly threat! Don’t do it! Even if you succeed losing a few pounds that way, the day when you stop this strange diet your weight will get back.
When people say they would like to lose their weight, it doesn’t matter if they would like to lose 10 pounds in two days or 5 pounds in a month, what do they mean, in your opinion? Losing fat, for sure. That’s the answer to the question of why losing 10 pounds of weight (fat) during two days is impossible. Losing fat means having some calorie deficits: in order to lose weight, you should consume less calories than you burn.
If you lose 10 pounds of water, is that really the ‘weight loss’ you hope for? There is some change in your weight, and your scales will show you the number you could be happy with. But you should know the truth: water weight comes back less than 24 hours after the diet is finished.
For you not to waste two days of your valuable life I am here to explain why it’s impossible to lose 10 pounds in two days. And I am going to apply only mathematical calculations! Which are more reliable than words, even if they come from some persuasive people who will try to mislead you in reality.
High math knowledge is not necessary for you to understand that fast weight loss is a myth. Let’s focus on some numbers! Because the numbers never lie!
First, some parameters related to metabolism, calories, and exercise shall be taken into consideration. These numbers represent averages and are what we will use in our math equation to downgrade the myth of fast weight loss.
The average woman (5’ 5” tall and 150 lbs.) burns about 2,000 calories per day. It is generally accepted average standard, in reality, this number of calories could be higher or lower, depending on the age, activity level, height, etc.
Second, to lose one pound of fat, you must burn 3,500 calories. Or to gain one pound of fat you need to eat 3,500 calories in excess of what your body needs. One hour of jogging will result in burning 500 calories on the average.
Do you see now that losing 10 pounds in 2 days is a kind of unrealistic dream or naïve idea some people believe without a second thought? Will you lose ten pounds in two days? Never. Will you ruin your metabolism, especially if you make such experiments repeatedly? Sure.
Let’s go on with our mathematical analysis. If you need to burn 3,500 calories in order to lose one pound of fat, how much do you need to burn to lose 10 pounds? 35,000 calories… Sounds impressive!
Thus, an average woman who could burn about 2,000 calories per day and who doesn’t eat anything for two days (remember we have proven it is a dangerous practice!) could reach 4,000 calorie deficits as a maximum. We mentioned that losing one pound of fat ‘costs’ 3,500 calories’ deficit. What result could we expect eventually? Only one pound of body weight lost by eating nothing for two days. Ugh. And no guarantee that a woman will not gain this weight again.
35,000 calories’ deficit is necessary for that woman to lose 10 lbs in 2 days. So, to lose another 9 pounds of fat in 48 hours, she has to burn about 31,000 more calories. So how much exercise would she need to do?
Remember that an average woman needs to run for 60 minutes to burn about 500 calories? 62 hours of running, and she will achieve the targeted outcome! The only problem is 62 hours is longer than 48. Math aside, let’s also pay attention to the fact that no one, only an ultra-marathoner probably can run for so many hours.
Let’s draw conclusions. People who would like to figure out how to lose 10lbs in 2 days are naïve. Fast weight loss comes down to bodily water fluctuations… not true fat loss. Fast weight loss is a myth if you keep fat loss in mind. The water loss will not only give you disappointing results but it would harm your organism a lot. Water turns to be vitally important for a human organism, and its lack would result in dehydration and intoxication.
So, it is not physically possible to lose 10 pounds of fat in 2 days. You lose only water! Now you see it’s ridiculous — and even dangerous —to lose much weight in a short period of time. Sure, the scale may say you lost 10 pounds in 2 days…but it’s water, not fat! The next time you see such an advertisement which says you could lose 10 lbs in 2 days, do not believe! Do not waste your time and money!
A note for ‘professionals’ in fitness and nutrition! Do not mislead people! If you are a professional, do not say that some desperate woman who has never done many sports exercises, who has never followed any diets and who knows nothing about calories ‘deficit could lose 10 pounds in two days! She will be not only disappointed but demotivated forever! Such promises ruin the reputation of fitness professionals and health specialists who are actually trying to do the right thing and help people lose weight using some reliable and healthy methods.
